Fresh from the folks over at Frieda’s comes their new-ish Garlic Delight, a spread of garlic, canola oil, lemon juice and salt. There are four flavors (original, sun dried tomato, chipotle and green olive) and all are equally potent, so much so that they might be too strong on their own for any garlic-sensitive types. But they work well as bases for more complex recipes, which Frieda’s smartly suggests: marinades, salad dressings, easy garlic breads and the like. The sun dried tomato, for example, is great with a bit of mayo for a kind of impromptu aioli.
If the recession has taught shoppers anything, it’s to be smart. And Garlic Delight is a versatile buy that adds a healthy (literally) dose of flavor to all sorts of meals. You can find out more at friedas.com and try it for yourself at Stater Brothers, Gelson’s and Northgate Markets across the Southland.
